August 12, 2018 – The Need for Continuing Education Secular and Spiritual

August 19, 2018

Today Pastor Ben Kingston brings us a message encouraging us to pursue continuing education from Deuteronomy 8:1-3.

One of the vital lessons of life is disciplining ourselves to see all biblical and secular knowledge that contributes to our life and purpose as necessary as our daily food.

Deuteronomy 8:1-3 “All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers. And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.”

Matt 4:4“But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”

The education doesn’t stop at 12 grade
Not after your AA
OR YOUR BA OR BS
OR YOUR MASTERS
OR EVEN YOUR DOCTORATE!
No, here is the sad fact it is called continuing education. Most professional jobs either require or expect you to stay current and pursuing education in your field.

It is beyond important, it is necessary! Please give yourself to your schooling as training for life.

What about christian CE?
Christian

The need

The cost without it.
James 1:19-25

The result of it.
Matthew 6:33
Provervs 2:1-5

How to achieve it.
Psalms 63
2 Timothy 3:15-17

Examples:
Radio, Web, Sunday School, 5:30, Worship services, Bible study personal and group, Mentors, and Book stores.

Most people that are in a season of difficulty can trace it to a lack of CE in scripture and discipleship living.

Come hungry let the pain of your situation drive you to discipline. Which will lead to desire which will lead to delight.

And not just delight that you are out of your current circumstance but delight in your savior that He is the answer to all life’s difficulties.

Thank you for listening! We hope you join us at church this Sunday! Send as a message if you have any questions or comments!
