October 7, 2018 – Run the Race
October 7, 2018
Today Pastor Ben Kingston brings us a message encouraging us to run our race for Christ from Hebrews 12:1-4. We all come to a place in our lives that we ask the question. “What is life all about?” This passage settles that.
“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin.”
Generally: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.”
Specifically: “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Phillipians 3:13-14
What is the high calling?
“For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.” Romans 8:29
So how to do this is set forth in this passage.
