3. What was asked for
   1. That we would know what we are to do
   2. That we would know what is being done
   3. That we would know who is doing it

Yes, it is appropriate to be thankful for blessings and possessions. It is more fitting to be grateful for a fulfilled life living for a transcendent cause.
